We're grateful for you!

And we decided to show it!

So we made this Thanksgiving printable for you, for free!  To print the image, right click on it and save to your hard drive.  You can then print it on photo paper or order it to your favorite lab (we always use Costco) in a 5 x 7, 8 x 10, and 11 x 14.  We would also be grateful if you let us know if you like the print or use it at all!  Dot has an 11 x 14 framed and we're using small prints as favors for our Thanksgiving guests.

More Last Minute Thanksgiving Crafts...this one is for the little ones!

Ok, you know you love them. Those messy little hands that you just can't get enough of...well maybe sometimes your fridge and windows and walls can get enough of them... but you can never get enough of their sweet little fingers. So I thought--actually I probably was talking out loud to myself while walking through the aisles of Target---I need to make those little hands into grateful turkeys so I will always remember how grateful I was.
So this easy and fun craft will use very little supplies and very little brain function. You can also have your little turkeys help out for even more fun.

Here are your supplies:
canvas (or piece of cardstock0
Paint and brush
hand (any size will do but the smaller the better!)
tulle squares (or tissue paper just like you used to use in elementary school)
glue (I used hot glue but if you have little ones help I would say go for a different glue choice)
embellishments of choice

How to:
Paint canvas if you want. Then paint the turkey (aka hand) and place into the right spot on canvas. Cut the tulle or tissue into squares and once turkey is dry, wrap the squares around a pencil and stick in place on each finger with glue until all fingers are covered like feathers. Embellish as you wish. Easy Peasy!!

Now go enjoy your little turkeys as long as you can!!

Last Minute Thanksgiving gift/craft/decoration!

Last week I needed to come up with a cute, CHEAP, quick gift in the spirit of Thanksgiving for a friend.  I had just made a bookpage birthday wreath and it was looking so cute that I decided it could do double duty.  I don't have all the photos for a tutorial (because it needed to be done, like, yesterday!) so I will refer you to an awesome one at Funky Junk Interiors that is a similar one to mine.

And then I just threw on a cute turkey I'd made with my Cricut.  Super easy, cost nothing since I used materials I had and fast!  Hope this idea helps you out!

December Craft Night, Good Day Colorado Special

It's time again for another craft night!  We have a super cute and EASY one for December.  The layered pedestal Christmas tree!

We had a preview of our Craft Night featured this morning (and again tonight) on our local Denver Fox news with the amazing Dan Duru and his sidekick comedian camera man, Cody White.  Here's some pictures I took of the morning (early, early morning)

Here's the worktable with the components of this month's Craft Kit.

My kids snuck down for some of the breakfast goodies...

So here's the deal, this month's Craft Night will be Friday, December 9th at 7pm and is open to a limited number of guests.  Please email us to reserve a spot and we'll email you a paypal request.  We also offer the kits for purchase.  They are $10 a kit, which makes one tree.  They are also available in a bulk discounted set of 10 kits for $85, so you can do your own Craft Night!  This kit includes everything you'll need to make one tree, except your glue gun, glue, and scissors. Unfortunately there is a paypal charge of $3, and any shipping charges are extra.  Email us (like usual) at holidaysnob@gmail.com if you have questions or call 720-837-6168.  We'll link up to Fox's show as soon as its up and you can see the Holiday Snobs in action!

Wizard of Oz Party for Young Women in Excellence

Halloween took a back seat this year to a fun Wizard of Oz party thrown by Dot for a church Young Women In Excellence program.  Here's the breakdown:

In Invitation, modified so you can download it and edit in your own specifics if you'd like.  I sewed rainbow ribbon across it under the "Somewhere."  This is sized for Costco's 6.5 x 7 greeting cards.

The room at first glance with hot air balloon centerpieces:

I also made 140 flying monkeys to work as placemats and flying around the room.  And of course I included my smashed witch legs and "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead" sign:

I painted a Lollipop Guild Sign and had a bucket of paper lollipops on wooden dowels (hey we were on a budget!)
Then I painted a "Watch out for Tornadoes" sign and wrapped tomato cages in wrapping paper to make some twisters.

And of course, I rounded up a vintage bike with basket for Mrs. Gulch.

We had a round up of the gang: Scarecrow, Tinman and Lion.  I made the tinman by just gluing together different cans.

We had a "Somewhere over the Rainbow" side of the room for the girls' value projects.

We decorated with tissue paper pompoms and a yellow brick road in front of the table.

We had just a dessert table for this event, with a variety of themed treats, such as these Melted Witch cupcakes (vanilla cupcakes with green frostin, topped with Thin Mints and Hershey Kisses witch hats)

We also had Ding Dongs, (get it?!):

There was also Yellow Brick Road Rice Krispy treats and a rainbow of fruit.

Here's some pictures of the drinks: Wicked Witch Repellant (Water) and Melted Witch Punch (green kool-aid with dry ice)

I just loved this punch!  Why is dry ice so cool?!  And there's a shot of me, Dot, over there on the left!  I was the mayor of Munchkinland so I wore polkadots and stripes.

Finally we had a handout to send home with girls.  Attached to the handout was a clothespin Dorothy Doll:

Our program looked like this:

There’s No Place Like our Heavenly Home
Young Women in Excellence
November 9, 2011
Conducting:  Sister
Opening Prayer:
Speaker:  the Wizard of Oz (Bishop) to introduce the evening and Personal Progress Program
Speaker:  Dorothy (YW President) “There’s No Place like our Heavenly Home”
Musical Presentation
Presentation of Awards:  Glinda the Good Witch (Personal Progress Leader)
Speaker: YW who had recently finished entire Personal Progress program
Closing Prayer

Well, I hope these ideas are inspiring and help you out if you're throwing a Wizard of Oz Party or Young Women in Excellence Program!

I'd also like to send a shout out to all the fabulous websites that inspired this evening:
